Haji Ali Mausoleum

The mausoleum of the famous Muslim saint, Haji Ali is located opposite the Mahalakshmi racecourse in Mumbai. Set 500 yards into the sea, it stands in isolation and is a splendid site which can be visited only at low tide. The mosque and tomb give the impression that they are floating out at sea during high tide as the connecting causeway is submerged in water. It is believed that the saint drowned here while on his way to Mecca and this tomb and mosque were to built to commemorate his death.

Nearest Station: As this mausoleum is situated in Central Mumbai, it is easily accessible from any part of the city. The nearest station is Mahalaxmi (Western Railway). Visitors can also take BEST buses from any point of the city to reach the spot .
